About the role
We're looking for a highly-motivated OpenTelemetry expert to further develop the Lumigo Distributions of OpenTelemetry (currently available for Node and Python) and contribute to the upstream OpenTelemetry project. We are looking for candidates with a strong background on distributed tracing. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with multiple programming languages, and open to learn more if need arises.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of the Lumigo Distributions of OpenTelemetry for Node and Python
• Establish a new Lumigo Distributions of OpenTelemetry for Java or .NET
• Be a known point-of-contact for the OpenTelemetry community and project

Requirements:

• Ability to design, research, and implement complex client-side monitoring functionality
• Good understanding how the current practices of monitoring cloud-native software (especially containerized applications)
• Expert-level understanding of OpenTelemetry tracing (data model, semantic conventions, how instrumentation works)
• Expertise in Java or .NET (Core / 6+)
• Working knowledge of Node.js or Python
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes

Nice to have:

• Experience working in a startup company
• Working knowledge of metrics in OpenTelemetry and Prometheus
• Experience running software at scale and what it takes to monitor it effectively
• Experience in participating in OSS projects and communities
• Experience in working with AWS services like Amazon ECS and Amazon EKS
