Head of Product & Operations
Company Overview: We are a quantitative hedge fund leveraging advanced AI and Machine Learning technologies to delve deep into fundamental data on companies, creating optimized portfolios designed to generate alpha. We're currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Product & Operations to join our team and drive our mission forward. Our "product" is our portfolio which is managed carefully for our investors and generated using sophisticated models and publicly available data.

We are a small entrepreneurial team of about 10 with a distributed operating model. Our technical team is strong and proven and we are looking for someone passionate about investing to further the development of our predictive models. This role will analyze and give direction to the technical team what ideas are most promising to improve alpha generation.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategic plans that the technical team implements to generate alpha in our portfolios. Drive the priorities for the technical team based on analysis of real and simulated results from our models. Your analytical skills and creativity are essential here to identify areas we can improve our investment results.
  2. Process Improvement and Operational Excellence: Identify and implement improvements to internal processes and procedures to ensure optimal efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  3. Risk Management: Oversee risk management and compliance to ensure we adhere to industry regulations and maintain the highest level of integrity.
  4. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop our analysis and operations team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  5. Financial Management: Oversee the fund's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  6. Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate and present critical operational and product matters at select team and company meetings.
  7. Technology Integration: Collaborate closely with the tech team to effectively utilize and incorporate technology into operational processes and product development. Understand and monitor the Python-based technology projects to ensure they are implemented effectively and deliver their intended benefits.
  8. Investment Research: Research winning investing strategies and seek to incorporate them into our predictive models.

Qualifications:
  1. Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Statistics or related field. An MBA or relevant advanced technical degree is preferred.
  2. Experience: Proven track record with 10+ years of experience in analytical or operational roles within the financial services sector, including at least 5 years at a quantitative asset manager.
  3. Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the financial services industry, hedge funds, quantitative analysis, fundamental data, and related regulations.
  4. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language is expected. Experience with CapitalIQ financial data and Interactive Brokers API is a plus.
  5. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a track record of leading and scaling operations in a high-growth environment.
  6. Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Comfortable dealing with complex data and able to extract business insights from that data.
  7. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate across a variety of audience levels.
  8. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and execute methodically. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large-scale initiatives.

Positives (Preferred Qualifications):
  1. Fundraising Experience: Significant experience in fundraising for a quantitative fund is highly desired.
  2. Passion for Investing: A deep passion and understanding of both fundamental and quantitative investing.
  3. Python Programming Experience: Proficiency in Python programming is highly desired.
  4. CapitalIQ Experience: Experience working with CapitalIQ financial data is a strong plus.
  5. Interactive Brokers API Experience: Experience with the Interactive Brokers API is highly valued.
  6. Product Management Experience: Experience in product management in the financial sector, particularly related to AI/ML technologies, will be highly beneficial.
